Once the kids were grown, Carolyn cut her first album and started a band. She played fairs, festivals, and regional fraternal organizations for nearly ten years.
Carolyn got divorced, then met Dave Butcher in 1995, and they got married in 1998. He ran sound for the band, after buying a mixing board and snake for Carolyn's birthday. He developed literature and a web site for the band.
In 1999, Dave had been narrating a "Tribute To Patsy Cline" for the band, and because fans kept asking for one, the couple decided to cut an album based on that part of their stage show. It found immediate acclaim in cities and nations around the world, from Nashville and Branson, to Canada, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Venezuela, and Australia. Songs released to radio made the indie charts. Carolyn found her name there among such greats as Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, The Oak Ridge Boys, Jeannie Kendall, and more. Singers she had always admired. A man in California, who had co-written six of the songs Patsy Cline recorded, contacted Carolyn, asking her to record a new song, "Patsy, We're Still Lovin' You!" That resulted in album #3.
The couple put together Carolyn Richards' Country Fun Show and began performing at various venues. The show has been a hit wherever it has been presented and has received many accolades.
At first they tried renting theatres and promoting their own shows. They found it hard to promote in remote cities where they didn't know the ins, and outs, the whos, and who nots. That cost them a lot of money as attendances were not adequate to cover costs. Now they only book the show at fairs, festivals, theatres, and other venues, and let the venue do the promotions. The venues know how to promote in their area. Click Country Fun Show on the left for more info about that show.
Carolyn has always loved to sing gospel. She and Dave cut a gospel album, designed a musical ministry program, and eventually named themselves, 'Spiritual Road'. They have traveled many miles presenting that program in churches and other venues. Click 'Spiritual Road' on the left for information about this ministry.
